Gaining Muscle And Weight

There are hundreds and thousands of workout routines and theories, designed to build muscle mass. Picking a method that works is often quite a challenge, especially for the beginner. I myself have spent countless hours trying to decipher the wealth of information on weight training and mass building workouts. In reality most of them probably work but I believe people over complicate the issue way too much. People have been gaining muscle for thousands of years, and I can assure you they did it without the use of high tech machines and "super-cross-setting-multi-activating-split-isolating routines". Yes, I made that up but you probably get where I'm coming from.

Let me try to break down in the most simple of terms, what you need to do to build muscle. Sorry if I sound a little condescending but I believe it really is this simple. In my opinion the two most important factors to consider when designing a mass building workout are,

1. Intensity- Does your workout provide a high enough intensity to stimulate new muscle?
2. Diet - Your calorie intake should provide enough energy for your body to re-build muscle

Diet is important, as it is the fuel our body needs to re-build muscle. Consuming enough calories, including protein, fat and carbohydrate is almost as important as lifting weights. I'm not going to go into any more detail on this but there is plenty of information out there on what your diet should consist of. Gaining Muscle And Weight

As I said before, building muscle mass is actually quite a simple process. You must exert enough force on your muscles in order for new muscle to grow. Muscle fibre growth is stimulated by lifting heavier weights than you have done previously. This means every time you go to the gym, you must exert more force on your body than you did in your previous workout. This can be done by increasing the weight or the number of reps you perform and should be the key principle for any muscle building workout.

With this in mind, make sure that when you chose a particular method of muscle mass building that you keep to the basic principles. Lift as much weight as possible in the quickest amount of time and repeat this process every time you workout. As long as you take in enough calories to allow your body to recover, you will gain muscle. Gaining Muscle And Weight
